Grow it.
Gardening teaches patience, responsibility, sustainability, and where food actually begins.
Food / Culture / Community
We are not starting from scratch.
We are starting from memory.
01 / What this is
Generations on the Table is an intergenerational movement in the making. We are building a place where elders and youth meet through gardening, cooking, education, and the stories food carries.
It is about giving our elders room to pass down what they know and giving young people the tools, confidence, and cultural grounding to carry that wisdom forward. Not someday. Right now, while the stories can still be told.
02 / Official mission
“Generations on the Table is committed to restoring the connection between people, food, and culture by bridging elders and youth through gardening, cooking, and education. We address food insecurity and food deserts by teaching sustainable practices, preserving traditions, and creating spaces where communities can learn, share, and grow together.”
03 / Recipes are records
It is a family archive written in seasoning, instinct, and somebody saying, “You’ll know when it’s ready.”
Recipes tell us where people came from, what they had access to, what they survived, how they celebrated, and how they made enough when there was not much. They carry migration, faith, geography, creativity, and love.
When a recipe disappears, we lose more than a meal. We lose the voice attached to it. Preserving recipes means documenting the measurements, but it also means saving the names, hands, jokes, substitutions, Sunday rituals, and stories that made the food ours.
04 / Reach the youth
Gardening teaches patience, responsibility, sustainability, and where food actually begins.
Cooking builds confidence and gives young people practical skills they can carry for life.
Cultural foodways help youth understand who they are, where they come from, and why their stories matter.
When youth learn beside elders, knowledge becomes inheritance instead of history we forgot.
05 / Be the bridge
Our elders hold knowledge no textbook can replace. Our youth carry questions, creativity, energy, and the future. Generations on the Table brings them together so wisdom has somewhere to go and young people do not have to figure everything out alone.
We are the bridge between what was practiced, what was interrupted, and what can still be restored.
THE TABLE IS WHERE WE BEGIN.06 / Where we are
Generations on the Table is not yet a 501(c)(3). We are building the foundation carefully, shaping the programs, gathering the right people, and turning this vision into something our community can touch.
We are not waiting for a title to believe in the work. We are doing the work required to make it official and sustainable.
